    Description

Up for sale is a quart sized antique "Union Clasped Hands / Eagle" Historical Calabash Flask.
Embossed on one side is a striped shield surrounded by a wreath and 13 stars. Inside the shield is a pair of clasped/shaking hands, and towards the bottom of the shield it's embossed "UNION" inside an oval.
On the other side is a highly detailed federal eagle - clenched in its talons are a shield, a branch, a few arrows, and a banner, with some more banners streaming around the eagle's body and wings.
These flasks were made in the 1860s in celebration of the end of the Civil War - "UNION" and the general imagery on the flask were meant to inspire patriotic feelings in people across the nation who used these flasks during the Reconstruction era.
It was blown in a mold and has an iron pontil scar on the base. It has an applied double collar lip.
Very little wear and the bottle has amazing gloss to the glass.  Some interior bubbles in the glass.
Aside from some minor surface wear primarily under the bottle, the aforementioned wear it's about as good a calabash flask as you can find.
