Syracuse man beats man, steals his $14,000 gold chain

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man beat another man Friday and stole his gold chain worth thousands of dollars, police said.
Tyrone M. Johnson, 38, was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On Friday, Johnson displayed a black handgun to the victim, according to a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse city court.
Johnson hit the man in the face, fracturing the man’s orbital bone, police said in the complaint. The victim also needed several stitches to the right side of his nose, they said.
Johnson stole the victim’s $14,000 gold chain, police said. He is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center.
